more about devon
Devon Albeit grew up in Columbus, Ohio, where her childhood experiences included wearing the same leopard print stirrup pants for days, choreographing talent show performances to the likes of Paula Abdul, jumping on unenclosed trampolines for hours upon hours with endless Fla-Vor-Ices as the only sustenance, and taking annual road trips with her family in their very practical vehicles.
Post-high school, Devon attended a small, liberal arts college in Ohio, where she graduated with a Fine Arts degree, an Early Childhood Education teaching license, and a future husband. She moved back home and entered the working world, teaching third grade for five years before taking a (still-active) leave of absence with the birth of her first child. A bit restless, Devon taught children’s art classes, supervised student teachers and served as an adjunct teacher at a local university, and drew portraits for commission before picking up a camera and discovering a new and fulfilling way to interact with life. Devon still considers herself a third grade teacher on hiatus.
Devon is a lifelong learner, as well as an avid reader, runner, and yogi. She’s always been interested in people, their stories, and human nature in general. She loves a spontaneous gathering and bringing people together. Put on some early 2000’s rap, and she’ll hit the dance floor in a hot second because that, to her, is called freedom. She loves dreaming up new ideas and adventures and believes anything is possible but, ultimately, prefers life to be simple.
Devon believes that life is messy yet wonderful, growth is ongoing, and we are all more alike than we think.

the photographer
Devon Albeit believes that art, like life, is most beautiful and meaningful in its most pure form. Devon is known for capturing the ordinary yet extraordinary moments of life through relatable, story-driven images. Whether you are seeking a photography experience for your business, event, achievement, or everyday life, the end result is the same: photos that celebrate what really matters.
Devon fondly remembers thumbing through her childhood photo albums (repeatedly), studying the details, and remembering events because of the way they were documented. This early experience shaped her conviction that the portraits and images that go beyond being beautiful — those that actually punch you in the gut and grab you by the heartstrings — can reinforce a sense of our individual and collective humanity and history, elicit thoughtful reflection, and even influence actual change.
Devon is passionate about building lasting relationships with clients, opening the door to a personal and unique photography experience where honest emotions and behaviors take center stage. Her way is easy-going yet thorough, open-minded yet clear. In a sense, the best of both worlds. Devon’s goal for each and every session is to deliver a creative yet sincere product of exceptional quality while also providing an enjoyable, reliable experience that honors the client’s truth as a person, business-owner, couple, or family.
“to know ahead of time what you’re looking for means you’re then only photographing your own preconceptions, which is very limiting, and often false.”

belief 01
Embrace the unexpected.
Moments feel flat when they are overly planned, contrived, or forced. Alternatively, how does it feel to get that spontaneous bear hug from your child or warm smile from a stranger? When we embrace life’s natural rhythms in a comfortable environment, everything falls into place and results in the best surprises and most meaningful experiences.
belief 02
Understated can also be indulgent.
The best things in life are the small touches that make a big impact, the simple, thoughtful things that manage to feel like a splurge. Some favorites: luxurious paper napkins at a local cafe, soft pellet ice in a cold drink, a well-crafted seasonal latte, new sheets, an open sunroof, cozy socks, live plants and fresh herbs, and a versatile cardigan.
belief 03
People remember how you make them feel.
As humans, we seek genuine connection and communion, delight in stories, and are drawn to vulnerability and honesty. The full client experience revolves around this. The session itself, as well as all of the pieces and parts leading up to and following it, should be just a memorable and enjoyable as the stage of life captured within it.
“To be an artist is to believe in life.”
