A Two-Part Maternity Session
Hannah and Nick are having their first baby, and they reached out to schedule the "Welcome Baby" package with me. If the first session was any indication, we have lots of laughs and good times to look forward to in the next couple of months. This package includes a maternity session, in-hospital newborn session, and an in-home newborn session, so they will be joined by their little girl for the next two sessions. I'm guessing the last session will also include their five pets, two of which joined us for the first part of their maternity session. Nick is a veterinarian, and the couple informed me that they tend to collect pets that cross his path at work. In fact, while I was there, they had a short discussion of adding a chameleon-patient to the mix. I believe Hannah said no to that idea at the time, but I won't be totally surprised if I arrive at their home in August to find a sixth pet along with the new human. Hannah and Nick obviously have huge hearts.
Our session was progressive in nature, starting at Hannah and Nick's darling newish house in Clintonville and ending at the Whetstone Park of Roses, which was fully in bloom and a beautiful backdrop. I loved incorporating both locations for the personal touch and meaning it added to the session. Hannah mentioned that she hasn't really gotten to form a solid bond with the house because she hasn't felt great for most of their time there, and she's hopeful that these photos will jumpstart a more thorough settling-in process for her. We spent some time in the parts of their home they most use and enjoy, the backyard and the family room. We then got a few shots of them at the front door as we left to make our way to the Park of Roses.
Not only was it the perfect time of year to visit this iconic Columbus site, the Park of Roses also happens to be one of Hannah and Nick's favorite local spots. The park was bustling, but we had plenty of space to get some sweet shots of Hannah and her belly as well as the couple. I especially loved how Nick frequently kissed Hannah's forehead, which they told me is a normal occurrence and not just something he did for my sake. It was indeed so natural and endearing. The whole session was, in fact. I just can't wait to see these two as new parents. Their baby girl is very, very lucky.
