My Sweet Niece, Celia Jo.
This little peanut was born on April 4, 2017, and she is simply the most precious thing I've seen in a long, long time. I had the pleasure of photographing her with her family for a quick in-home newborn session when she was nine days old. She was alert the entire time, which I love because it allows for interaction with family members. It's also so cool to see how much personality these little ones have from the get-go, and that really shines through when the baby is awake.
Of course, keeping Celia wrapped up in a perfect burrito wasn't really happening, which again is ok by me because I am not really a poser, even with newborns. I'd much prefer to take pictures of baby in mom's arms or on the changing table or some other situation that provides context for the shot. Don't get me wrong, if baby is super snuggly and moldable, we'll get her into a perfect curled up butt-in-the-air pose, and the results will be scrumptious. And detail shots of little body parts, fuzzy hair, and scaly skin are an absolute must for me either way. I guess my point is, no expectations. Baby leads the way. And Celia did a great job at that. I'm 100% in love.
